In the early 20th century A.M. Mackintosh was a recognized historian who specialized in the history of Clan Chattan and the Farquharsons and
Mackintoshes who played such a major role in that loosely defined confederation.

This study is of the Mackintoshes of Glenshee and adjoining districts, primarily the Mackintoshes of Dalmunzie, of Tom and Finegand, and later of Forter in Glenisla and of Cams or Cammis. All of these were landed families of some local importance. The Mackintoshes of Dalmunzie originally took the name MacRichie, and this family is investigated in considerable genealogical and historical detail. The Mackintoshes of Ballachraggan in Strathardle were descended from this line, as were the MacRitchies in the Stormont, and these two as well are given considerable attention. The Mackintoshes of Finegand in Glenshee and Forter in Glenisla also often carried the name MacThomie, McHomie or McComie. The Mackintoshes of Cams carried the name Macinlies. Overall, this is local history in depth, and in this case, it is the local history of small but interesting cadet lines of
the Mackintoshes. Also included is a short article from Scottish Notes and Queries: "Mackintoshes in Glenshee; McCombie Family."

This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
