They include court lists, lists of warrants issued, appointments and changes in the Police Service, lists of arrests and discharges and descriptions, escaped prisoners, and missing persons. Also included is information on highway robbery, rewards offered, felonies, stolen property and more. Notices from Police Gazettes from other states are also often included.

A unique feature of this years issues, is that it includes Auctioneer Licences issued throughout this year.

Example entry taken from the 7 July 1897 issue:

Highway Robbery and Stealing from the Person
Two men, names unknown, are charged, on warrants, with assaulting and robbing John McMahon, 567 Spencer-street, West Melbourne, on the 1st inst. Descriptions:-1st. About 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, medium build, dark complexion, dark moustache only, about a fortnight's growth of beard. 2nd. About 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, thin build, fair complexion, fair moustache only; wore faded clothes and a black boxer hat. - O.5483. 3rd July, 1897.

Example entry taken from the 14 July 1897 issue:

Deserters of Wives and Children
Minnie White is charged, on warrant, with abandoning a female child under 2 years of age, with Sarah Ann Baron, 47 Victoria-street, Fitzroy, at Fitzroy, on the 6th February last. Description: - Victorian, 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slender build, dark complexion, dark hair, frizzy in front, very much freckled, very white teeth. Is known as Caroline Bray. - O.5655. 13th July, 1897.
