THE SCOT WE KNOW. SENATOR J. T. WALKER.
The subject of our sketch was born in Springfield, Leith Walk, Midlothian, and was three years old, when, in 1844, he arrived in Australia with his father, who soon after arrival became owner of Castlestead Station, Burrowa. Five years later the young Scot returned to the land of his birth, and received his education at Circus Place School, Edinburgh, and the Edinburgh Institution, and in Kings College, London. At the age of 19 Mr Walker joined the London staff of the Bank of New South Wales, and, rising in his profession, we find him appointed manager of the branch at Townsville, Queensland, subsequently filling a similar position at Toowoomba.
This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original journals, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
