John and Margaret Parker arrived in New South Wales from Limerick, Ireland, in July 1840 pm the 'Premier' and settled on the Monaro shortly after.

John and Margaret brought with them their children Mary Ann (m. Slattery/Rawlings/Mellodew); Elizabeth (m. Feeney); Thomas; James (m. Keeling or Beale); John (m. Tyre); Margaret (m. Thurbon/Curtis) and Ann Sarah (m. Stevens/Tyrie). A son, Joseph, was born at Burnima near Bombala in 1842. 

The book traces descendants of John and Margaret Parker down to their great grandchildren.
