Queensland Education Gazettes are a wonderful source of information for historians. Usually issued once a month, the Gazettes contain a whole host of valuable information for family historians, local historians, social historians, or those with a special interest in the history of schools.
Listings vary over time but they include teacher admissions, admissions cancelled, transfers, transfers cancelled, notifications of vacancies, those that left the service, and results of various courses. For schools themselves they record the dates schools opened or closed as well as any changes of name or status. Other information recorded includes scholarships granted, matriculation and university results and, during World War I, an Honour Roll. There are many thousands of names of people mentioned in these Gazettes.
Now released on fully-searchable CD-ROM, using these valuable documents has never been easier. This set of 2 CDs contains 61 years of Education Gazettes from the beginning 1899 to 1959.
High quality scanned images of the whole years worth of issues. These CDs have been bookmarked for easy navigation, and pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
