Written by George Hill, and originally published in 1889. This 213 pages survey of the Ulster Plantation in 1610 provides a detailed account of Armagh, Tyrone, Londonderry, Donegal, Fermanagh, and Cavan, each in turn as they were in 1608-1610.
The original and present ownership of land and the process of resettling on the former property of deposed owners is the primary focus and purpose of this work. The unsettled nature of the region and the need to provide defense is evident on every page. It is a history which takes the reader or researcher closer to the ground with detailed information on an almost day-by-day basis as to settlements and their problems.
This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
