This product is sold as a CD SECOND or SPARE.

  • "CD seconds" or "spares" are perfectly good data wise, but have been put aside due to:
  • faulty label printing, e.g. off colour or misaligned. A few have been manually labelled or corrected

over-produced initially, so offered as "spares" to clear

They are all offered at 60% to 90% discount (from the normal price). They will be supplied in clear CD sleeves, rather than the normal CD cases. In many cases they are the last available, i.e. they won't be available, even at full price, when sold out.

Police Gazettes are a unique, useful and extremely fascinating resource for local, family and social historians and researchers in other fields throughout Australia. Compiled to be distributed amongst the Police Force only, these Gazettes therefore contain details and information that can not be found anywhere else. They include court lists, lists of warrants issued, appointments and changes in the Police Service, lists of arrests and discharges (which include descriptions), escaped prisoners, and sometimes missing persons ... and just so much more. Notices from Police Gazettes from other states are also often included. These are simply a goldmine of fascinating information for anyone.

Usually issued weekly, collected here together on the one CD is 52 of the 53 issues that were produced during 1872.

Some example entries taken from the 6 August 1872 issue are:
Housebreaking and Stealing from Dwelling-Houses
Warren, a youth about 16 years old, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair hair and complexion; dressed in dirty tweed suit and black wideawake hat, is charged on warrant, with stealing a meerschaum pipe, since recovered, from the shop of Abraham Goldberg, Swanston street, Melbourne, on the 17th July. - O.3875. 3rd August 1872.
