In Perthshire it covers Rossie Priory (Kinnaird), Castle Menzies (Menzies), Garth Castle (Currie), Castle Huntly (Gray, Patterson), Craighall-Rattray (Clerk-Rattray), Kinjauns Castle (Gray), Dupplin Castle (Oliphan), Elcho (Wemyss), Doune (Stewart), and Taymouth (Campbell) Castles, Coulis Castle (Coulis, Mortimer, Gray, Murray), and Evelick Castle (Lindsay, Murray).

In Forfarshire we learn about Hospitalfield (Fraser), Glamis (Lyon, Bowes-Lyon), Kinnaird (Kinnaird), Logie House (Kinloch), Panmure (Maule), Claypotts Castle (Strachan, Graham, Douglas, Home), Kinnordy (Lyell Ogilvy), Cortachy Castle (Menteith, Ogilvy), Invergowrie House (Clayhills-Henderson), The House of Dun (Erskine), Mains (Scrymgeour, Ramsay, Graham), Redcastle (Campbell, Stewart, Ruthven, Carnegie), and Lendertis (Flecher, Munro, Wedderburn, Laing).

The house and family, the site, a detailed list of all the important contents, the gardens, and the architectural significance are all discussed in detail.
