The Maxwells of Pollock possessed an extensive array of documents relating to their family and to the lands of Lessuden in Roxburghshire, the Barony of Pollock, the Barony of Calderwood, and to lands in Renfrew and Lanark. Their muniment room also held papers to properties held by the Maxwells of Nithdale and Mearns, particularly the Baronies of Maxwell, Carlaverock, and Mearns. In 1863, a random selection of materials from this repository was published in a two-volume work, but without any particular order or system of inclusion. This cartulary, therefore, sought to arrange that and other materials in a coherent fashion. This, then, is a guide to those and to other family papers and charters relating to the family from 1200 down into the 19th century.

This CD consists of scans of the original books, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
