Police gazettes provided information and instructions to members of the police force. SAMPLE ENTRY (from the 2 July 1915 issue):

Launceston.- BERYL LINDSAY MARY COLLINS, age 18 years. An inquest was held on the body of the abovenamed person on the 18th and 29th ultimo, before E. Whitfield, Esq, Coroner. Verdict: "Died from peritonitis from infection starting from the uterine, but there no evidence of interference."
Bangor.- MARY CATHERINE ESLITT, age about 62 years. An inquest was held at Lover Turner's Marsh on the body of the abovenamed person on the 28th ultimo, before D. W. Bostock, Esq., Coroner. Verdict: "Died from heart-failure".
Burnie.-MARY FARRELL, age 57 years. An inquest was held at Stowport on the body of the abovenamed person on the 26th ultimo, before J.W. Smithies, esq, Coroner. Verdict: "Accidenatlly burnt to death."
