The road that has no end ...
I do not know what got YOU started on your search for family history, but in my case it was the dubious (or so it seemed) gift of two dilapidated tin trunks which had been reposing in a hayshed for some twenty-five years, the original owner having relinquished them, reluctantly, only upon her demise. (Could I interest you in a copy of The Australian Music Album Vol. 1, 1894; or perhaps Pears Christmas Annual, 1901?)
What ensued, following obligatory removal of sundry spiders, silverfish etc., has been, and still is, a glorious, mad, impossibly frustrating but rewarding involvement with people, most of whom are long departed but certainly not forgotten. In short, I was bitten with the bug, and in retrospect, could probably write an excellent guide on how NOT to go about genealogical research!
For the first time the journals are fully searchable as a PDF document on CD ROM published by Archive Digital Books Australasia.
This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original journals, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
