Theophilus Parsons Pugh (1831-1896), journalist, politician and public servant, was the person behind several newspapers which in 1866 enlarged and became the first 'Pugh's Queensland Almanac' and continued annually until 1927.
More than an Almanac, and more than a directory, this volume was a must-have for everyone of the time. It contains information on events that were scheduled throughout the year of 1907, gardening advice, names and contacts for various government departments, banks, as well as postal rates and information, immigration details, railway stations and fares, details of stations and station owners and so much more ...
The Towns Directory is just as useful, if not more, covering not only the city of Brisbane, but also the major towns around Queensland, together with the services in each (even including various societies ... and their members). The services in each are detailed, as are people with their occupations and address. This publication will help you find out more about the society and people of the time.
Fully searchable on CD-ROM, this is a valuable source of historical information which will be useful for all with an interest in Queensland's people, towns and society in 1907.
