THIS booklet, although intended as a reference for desendants of Enniscorthy families wishing to explore their origins, is also aimed at stimulating
an interest locally in the towns past, and provides a lot of material for Wexford descendents to digest.

44 million Americans claimed Irish ancestry in the U.S census, and the Australian/Irish connection where forty per cent of the population have Irish roots. Not forgetting the millions in Britain, Canada and elsewhere in the world. During the Famine in Wexford, the population in 1841 was 200,000 an.i by the year 1851 in Wexford the population was down to 180,000. The population continued to fall lo 110,000 in 1890. This figure remained unchanged (104,000) up to the present day in Co. Wexford.
