This reference work surveys the personal names of Wales, showing their derivation and meaning, and giving for each name male or female designation, meaning, construction, and early use.
Nearly all Welsh names can be sorted easily into one of seven groups. Those in the first four are Welsh in origin but the remainders, although they have acquired a distinctive Welsh form, derive from foreign sources. The groups are: symbolical names, descriptive names, place names, invented names, Roman names, Biblical names, and Saxon names. This, then, is an invaluable guide if your have Welsh names in your genealogy.
This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
