Telephone directories are a great source of information, both for name and address. This telephone directory covers Perth, its suburbs and country regions in 1953. It lists thousands of telephone numbers - arranged in a similar way to current day telephone books.

This directory lists the Commonwealth Government departments, State Government departments, Perth subscribers and country subscribers (subscribers meaning, those who had a telephone).  There is a Pink Pages section which is business and professional directory.

It also includes sections on telephone information (rates, accounts, time signals, directories etc.), postal and telegraph information. As well, it has quite a number of advertisements - all useful, often including names of people and places.

The directory is a useful resource giving extra insight into the lives of those living in this period in South Australia.
