This history of the Sampson family details the genealogical and historical information relating to those of the name in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and to a lesser extent, to a separate line of Sampsons in New England. It is a genealogical compilation which begins with the Sampsons in Virginia, and then turns to Scotland, Ireland, on to Pennsylvania, and again in Virginia and Maryland. Family legend has it that the family came into England as feudal fighters and moved on into Scotland by the 12th century.
