This is an extended history of the Alison or Allison family over a period of some 700 years. The author begins with a chapter on the origin of the name and continues with information on the family in Scotland, including early prominent members of the family and the place they occupied there. Avondale is given as the center for this family, who were said to be descended from the MacAlisters of Loupe. The study then turns to the complicated question of the settlement of the Allisons in Ireland and the problem of defining who they were and what their place was in northern Ireland. The dispersal of this family to Ireland and then on to New Hampshire presents numerous complications which are addressed in some detail. There are chapters on the Allisons in New Hampshire, in Pennsylvania, Virginia and the Carolinas, and throughout the southeast. The author then studies the Allisons in England and in County Londonderry, and on to New Brunswick. Then there are chapters on Holland, Orange and Rockland Counties in New York state, in Canada and in Australia.

This CD consists of scans of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
