This book is presented to the public in commemoration of Coolgardie's centenary year. The subsequent spectacular discovery of gold a few miles south at Londonderry remain to this day an event which has never been forgotten, and it is hoped that this publication will help maintain the important position of that find in Australian mining history.
The Londonderry saga took place during the great mining book of the 1890s which centred upon Coolgardie in Western Australia, and is the story of a dazzling discovery of gold on a lease. Later an option was granted to an Irish nobleman to purchase it for a colossal sum of money. Subsequently an company with enormous capitalisation was floated in London on the strength of the option. This is the full story of the 1890's share fiasco which shattered London and Western Australia.
