Taken from an original manuscript, with notes and illustrations by Robert Pitcairn, this book of 228 pages was originally published 1830.

This account, by an anonymous writer, was found attached to documents in the library of the Faculty of Advocates in Edinburgh. In origin it appears to have been a document prepared with a view of explaining many of the instances relating to the trial of the Mures of Auchindrayne for the murder of Sir Thomas Kennedy of Colzeane. It provides much information illustrative of the history of Carrick and of the deadly feuds which prevailed in Ayrshire and Galloway, and especially within the bailiary of Carrick.

It attempts to provide a history of the origin of the extended family, and then proceeds into the celebrated murder trial and the various feuds resulting from it. There are extensive notes to explain and to identify events and names in the text.

This CD consists of scans of the originals which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
