This genealogical and historical account concentrates primarily upon the descendants of two men, both named Thomas Dickson, and their descendants, beginning in the 18th century and concentrating upon the United States. The author traces the Dickson descent in Scotland from the Keith family, and places them among the Border clans of the East Marches. There also is much material on the settlement of Dicksons in Ulster after 1600. But the primary emphasis is upon the United States and upon the Dicksons in western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh in particular.
