The archives of chief historical interest which have descended to the present Municipal Council of Dublin from its official' predecessors consist of royal charters, governmental grants, books, rolls, and miscellanea. 

The earliest of the civic muniments are coeval with the first Anglo-Norman settlement in Ireland, mid they have been supplemented during succesive centuries by documents concerning the affairs mid rights of the city of Dublin and its government.
