In the early 20th century, Cambridge University sponsored a new series of studies on the counties of the British Isles. This one-volume account written in 1914 covers the large county of Argyll, which extends westward from the mainland through the offshore islands, and as well includes the smaller county of Bute.
Each of these studies contained the latest material on the size and shape, natural characteristics, geology and climate, population, agriculture, industries, history and antiquities, administration and chief towns, and distinguished citizens. This more defined formula allowed for the presentation of the latest information in a convenient format. The whole is an excellent survey of these two counties at the beginning of the 20th century.

Scanned images of the whole of the original book, bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
