Electoral rolls are the nearest thing Australians have to census records, and hence they are extremely important and useful for local, family and social historians.

The rolls for Queensland in 1914 total over 10,300 pages. Entries are arranged alphabetically by district and by division within the district. You will find the details of about 300,000 voters who resided in Queensland at this time, and who were qualified (and registered) to vote. Apart from the annual rolls (published variously in late 1913 and early 1914), the CD includes the additional rolls published in April, June, August, and October 1914.

The following information is included for each entry:

  • No.
  • Christian name and surname
  • Place of residence
  • Occupation
  • Situation of freehold or leasehold
  • Date of claim
  • Sex (M/F)
  • Electoral district and division

In addition to the main rolls, there are lists of electors erased from the rolls on account of enrolment in another district or because of death.

The rolls cover the districts of Albert, Aubigny, Balonne, Barcoo, Bowen, Bremer, Brisbane, Bulimba, Bundaberg, Buranda, Burke, Burnett, Burrum, Cairns, Carnarvon, Charters Towers, Chillagoe, Cook, Cooroora, Cunningham, Dalby, Drayton, Eacham, East Toowoomba, Enoggera, Fassifern, Fitzroy, Flinders, Fortitude Valley, Gregory, Gympie, Herbert, Ipswich, Ithaca, Kennedy, Keppel, Kurilpa, Leichhardt, Lockyer, Logan, Mackay, Maranoa, Maree, Maryborough, Merthyr, Mirani, Mitchell, Mundingburra, Mount Morgan, Murilla, Murrumba, Musgrave, Nanango, Normanby, Nundah, Oxley, Paddington, Pittsworth, Port Curtis, Queenton, Rockhampton, Rosewood, South Brisbane, Stanley, Toombul, Toowong, Toowoomba, Townsville, Warrego, Warwick, Wide Bay, and Windsor.

This CD contains high quality scanned images of the original rolls, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
