Theophilus Parsons Pugh (1831-1896), journalist, politician and public servant, was the person behind several newspapers which in 1866 enlarged and became the first 'Pugh's Queensland Almanac' and continued annually until 1927.

More than an Almanac, and more than a directory, this volume was a must-have for everyone in Queensland at that time. It contains information on events that were scheduled throughout the previous year - ideal to find out all sorts of anecdotal information. There is also gardening advice, biographies of notable 'men of the time' in Queensland, government and law information, medical practitioners, chemists, ministers of religion, postage and telegraph information together with costs, railways stations and their fares, stations and station owners ... and so much more. Justices of the Peace throughout the whole of Australia is also included providing name, town, and colony of each JP.

The Directory is just as useful, if not more listing thousands or residents in Queensland during 1892. This Directory covers not only the city of Brisbane City, but also the Country Towns, as well as a Trades and Business Directory. The services in each (even including various societies ... and their members) are detailed, as are occupations alphabetically together with the persons name, and address.

Fully searchable on CD-ROM, this is a valuable source of historical information which will be useful for all with an interest in Queensland people, towns and society in 1892.
