Theophilus Parsons Pugh (1831-1896), journalist, politician and public servant, was the person behind several newspapers which in 1866 enlarged and became the first 'Pugh's Queensland Almanac' and continued annually until 1927.

More than an Almanac, and more than a directory, this volume was a must-have for everyone of the time. It contains information on events that were scheduled throughout the year of 1879, gardening advice, an index to obituaries dating from 1 November 1877 through to 31 October 1878, government and law information, postage and telegraph information together with costs, railways stations and their fares ... and so much more.

The Towns Directory is just as useful, if not more, with listings of the larger towns of Queensland, together with the services in each (even including various societies ... and their members). They list occupations alphabetically together with the persons name, and address. This publication will help you find out more about the society and people of the time.

This CD contains high quality scanned images of the whole of the original book, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
