This book is largely a compilation of letters, photos, journal entries, drawings, and maps used to create a very comprehensive account of Colonel Light's life by Thomas Gill in 1911.
The book tells of his early years and family, his naval and military career, his arrival in South Australia and his work in that state and his death. The book also talks about his impact in South Australia after his death.
Also included is a copy of Colonel Light's 'Brief Journal', and facsimiles of two of his handwritten letters.
