Written to celebrate the centenary of German settlement in Queensland in 1938, Theile examines the history of the church, the life and customs of the church and its various activities.

Included are biographies of the pastors of the United German and Scandinavian Synod (1885-1921), the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (1885-1921) and pastors after 1921 when amalgamation occurred. One section is devoted to each of the parishes with a brief history for each – at Alberton, Beenleigh, Bethania, Brisbane North, Brisbane South, Bundaberg, Douglas, Dugandan, Engelsburg, Goombungee, Hatton Vale, Highfields, Ipswich, Kingaroy, Lowood, Mackay, Maryborough, Murgon, Nundah, Toowoomba (Hume Street and Phillip Street), and the Home Mission Centres.
