Telephone directories are a great source of information, for both name and address. This telephone directory covers Melbourne in 1929. It lists thousands of telephone numbers – arranged in a similar way to current day telephone books.
It also includes sections on Telephone Information (rates, accounts, time signals, directories, etc), Postal Information, and Telegraph Information. As well, it has quite a number of advertisements - all useful information, often including names of people and places. The whole of the directory, including most text in the advertisements, is searchable, useful not only for finding names, but also places and other information.
