Originally published 1939, and tallying 278 pages, this local history grows out of and complements the author’s Errol: Its Legends, Lands and People, by expanding the range to include a wide portion of Perthshire known as the Carse of Gowrie.
Included are detailed histories of the parish of Kinnoull and the Muir, Erskine, and Blair families; Kinfauns and the Charteris, Blair, and Gray families; St. Madoes and the Pitfour, Cairnie, Pitchoag, Dumgreen, Cochrane, and Richardson families; Errol parish and the Hays; Inchture parish and the Kinnairds; and lastly, the Kilspindie, Kinnaird, Abernyte, and Longforgan parishes. This is local history at its best.
