The topic had all the potential to be informative and spine-tingling and perhaps even an aid to family historians but it sadly lacked the meatiness I was looking for. It was interesting but a lightweight in content and facts.

Some-many-descriptions are confronting with lack of suitable staff available conditions and treatment.where a broad range of men and women found themselves incarcerated within the walls of the Fremantle Asylum..The nursing/caring details are more a backdrop to the descriptions recorded. Some of my early family thru 1860/80's worked as a nursing staff, in Perth and Fremantle & the Asylum.
I found book is an interesting read as it unravel reports and human stories in an informative manner interspersed with mention of individual life descriptions of how little it could take to find your self being sent the Fremantle Asylum.
