Written by Alexander Campbell, and edited by Herbert Campbell, this 1924 published
book details the Campbells of Craignish who lived on the west coast of
Argyllshire, and this is an account of that family, written perhaps around
1719-1725. It is preeminently a genealogical account of this particular branch
of the Campbell family, beginning with a rather fanciful and highly suspect
origin and continuing more reliably into the 17th and 18th centuries. It has had
a controversial past, but the editor has done an excellent job of placing it in
its historical perspective.
