By the 1960s people who lived and worked with horses were becoming scarce. Fortunately a few joined the Perth Writers' Circle and wrote about their lives and the horses that played a part in them.
The result is this book, which is a celebration of the part played by horses in the development of Australian life in the days before tractors, cars and trucks. Caught in the amber of its print, they show horses as being any or all of these things: Wily, dull and plodding, contrary, affectionate, untrustworthy, intelligent and at times of sheer sagacity.
All who have an affection for horses, and the past way of life, will find an interest in this book.
