The Guide to Sydney provides wide ranging information for visitors to Sydney. It covers historical aspects; a general description of Sydney including the principal streets, banks, educational institutions, sporting groups and hospitals; Sydney Harbour; waterside Sydney; suburban Sydney; tourist resorts and miscellaneous topics such as the Railway Passenger Guide and postal information.
It includes 24 plans of the suburbs of Sydney showing the streets, tramways, railways, waterways and principal buildings – a good overview of the city in 1921.
Bondi Beach is one of the best-known and most popular seaside resorts of Sydney. It is reached in about 40 minutes by tram from Circular Quay (fare 4d.). To drive, the distance is four miles, and anyone who knows the roads may take the pleasant route through Centennial Park or by way of Woollahra, though the first portion of the way is not attractive on either route. The tram starts from the Quay and goes up Phillip-street into Elizabeth-street, passes Hyde Park, turns into Liverpool-street, then along Oxford-street, one of the busiest streets out of the city proper ...
