Based on the success of the first and second editions of this title, the compiler Ralph Reid has
now expanded and updated his publication, to be over 250% larger than
the original. This unique guide covers family histories
published in and relevant to Australia, and is arranged into three
sections – a PRIMARY NAMES section, SECONDARY NAMES section and a TITLES section.
The
TITLES list contains information on the title, author/s, publisher,
where and when published, summary contents description and
International Standard Book Number (ISBN). Each entry is preceded by a
4 digit number, for ease of referencing. The PRIMARY NAMES relates to the main family described in each publication, often giving region (Vic, WA etc), together with a reference to each book in that category. The SECONDARY NAMES section lists all indexed family names in alphabetical order and shows, for each one,
the identity number/s of the title/s in which that family name is mentioned.
Australian Family Histories: A Bibliography and Index has established itself as an indispensable guide for all
Australian family history researchers. This new edition (6,700 titles
with 208,000 family name index references) is a significant expansion
of the first edition (3,400+ titles with 59,000+ family name index
references) and really is a must-see; all the hard work in trying to
find what has been published about a particular family has been already
done here.
