This little book was issued by the committee as a souvenir as part of the 'back to Mount Gambier' celebrations in its jubilee year, 1926. It is written as a short account of the history of Mount Gambier and district in South Australia, and includes information on its discovery and foundation, the subdivision of the land, growth of the town, the first newspaper, municipal history, churches, schools and descriptions of the beauty of the area.
Several photos of places throughout the Mount Gambier district and of people who were prominent in its history are also included in the book.
The book contains a proud, informative account of Mount Gambier, the Garden of the State and its history.
