compiled together on a single CD.
This three-part CD includes:
- Genealogical and Historical Records of The Baillies of Inverness,
Scotland and Some Descendants in the United States of America, by J. G.
B. Bulloch (originally published 1923, 86 pages)
- The entry for Baillie of Monkton, from A Genealogical Account of the
Principal Families in Ayrshire, More Particularly in Cunninghame, volume
I, by George Robertson (originally published 1823, 13 pages)
- Information on the Baillie Family extracted from The Scottish Nation;
Or, the Surnames, Families, Literature, Honours and Biographical History of
the People of Scotland, by William Anderson (originally published 1878, 8
pages).
While the origin of the name is unknown, it has been associated with Balliol
and also with the office of bailiff. Branches of the family were found in Hoprig
and Lamington, Carphin, Parbroth, Park, Jerviston, Dunrogal, Carnbroe,
Castlecarry and Provand. Baillie of Jerviswoode held the earldom of Haddington.
