Written and prepared by members of the Australian Corps of Signals, this book is:
an outline of the achievements of the Australian Corps of Signals over the years from the campaigns in the Middle East to the present day of the victories in New Guinea. It pays tribute to the arm of the service which is on duty every hour of the day providing and maintaining vital communication channels for the passing of Signals traffic to the far-flung headquarters and units of the Australian Military Forces.
It covers events during the five years since the outbreak of World War I – in the Middle East, Malaya and the South West Pacific. The range of material covered can be judged from the titles of just some of the articles – AIF’s early days, Australia’s first corps signals, Seventh in Syria, Signals in Malaya, Desert campaigns of the Ninth, Wireless war in Tobruch, AA Signals in the Middle East, “B” Corps Signals in New Guinea, Defence of Milne Bay, Sixth in the jungle, Advance in the Huon Peninsula, Torres Strait Force Signals and Signals in Darwin. It also includes a Roll of Honour.
