The Government Gazettes are a vast source of information, and cover not only
details on thousands of people, but also details of hundreds of events such
as land transactions, proclamations, court notices, notice of acts, tenders
contracts, appointments and resignations, bankrupt and insolvency notices,
impoundments, police auctions, unclaimed letters, storekeepers and publicans
licences, rewards on offer, inquest verdicts and many more that occurred each
year in New South Wales.
Most years of the Government Gazettes also include an index to the Gazettes,
to make finding a person or topic easier. These are sorted alphabetically by
name and topic. This index is a compilation of the indexes for the years
1832-1842, and contains a total of 369 pages.
This is a useful resource for those wishing to research New South Wales, and
a great reference for libraries and societies to have.
High quality scanned images of the whole of the original book. This CD has been bookmarked for easy
navigation, and pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
