- 'A Genealogical Account of the Hamilton Family', from History of the County of Bute and Families Connected Therewith, by John Eaton Reid
- Genealogical materials on the families of Hamilton of Grange, Hamilton of Holmhead (formerly of Aikinhead), and Hamilton of Ladyland, from Genealogical Account of the Principal Families of Ayrshire
- 'The Genealogy of the Hamilton Family, from 1716 to 1894', by Salome Hamilton. This work deals with the descendants of John Hamilton, the first of whom went to America in 1716, and concentrates mainly on the American side.
