'The Dictionary of Australasian Biography' written by Philip Mennell in 1892, includes almost 2000 concise biographies of Australasian colonialists from 1855-1892 in over 540 pages. It gives wing formation on politicians, political leaders, church leaders, intellectuals, explorers, professionals, musicians, actors, athletes, scientists, pastoralists and industrialists from all the Australian colonies as well as New Zealand. Information included consists of their background and family information, career information, achievements and influences on the development of Australasia. It is arranged alphabetically by surname for easy reference. This dictionary provides an extremely useful and easy to use resource for the family and local historian. Originally produced by Archive CD Books Australia in 2005, this title has now been remastered and re-released, and includes better searching capability. This CD contains high quality scanned images of the whole of the original book, and has been bookmarked for easy navigation. Pages can be searched, browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
