These two works together provide an excellent introduction to the history of this family whose lands once stretched from the Grampians on the north to the lowlands of Perthshire on the south, and from Angus on the east to Argyll on the west.
"The Chiefs of Clan Donnachaidh" focuses primarily on the principal or chiefly family, with particular emphasis upon the role of the Robertsons at Bannockburn; the "Short History of the Clan Robertson" includes materials on such additional families as the Robertsons of Lude, Straloch, Inches, and Kindeace, as well as material on the slogans, armorial bearings, tartan, pipe music, and other relevant information.
