During the 1500s and 1600s, the Heralds visited each county and recorded the pedigrees of families, primarily to prove or disprove a family's right to use 'titles'. Generally you will find 3-5 generations of families listed, in any cases the pedigrees date back to Norman times (the 11th century).

These records form an extremely important source of information for family historians. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Harleian Society published a large series of books containing transcripts of these ancient documents. The book also include descriptions or illustrations of the coats of arms of these people.

Arranged alphabetically by surname, this CD contains pedigrees of Cheshire families as at 1580, with some dating back to the 11th century.

High quality scanned images of the whole of the original book. This CD has been bookmarked for easy navigation, and pages can be browsed, enlarged and printed out if required.
