This book by Lin Robinson is one of the less farfetched, but still highly questionable stories about the Knights Templar being repeated today involves their participation at the Battle of Bannockburn. The purpose of this work is to provide a reasoned assessment of the argument for Templars being at Bannockburn in a body and able to influence the tide of battle.
Author Lin Robinson here gives a short history of the Knights Templar, followed by a thoughtful appraisal of the position of the Templars by the time of Bannockburn in 1314, the likelihood of their participating in the battle, and the decisive factors which brought about the battle's unlikely conclusion. He takes a fascinating look at the myths surrounding the Templars in Scotland, and presents logical and plausible answers for each.
