This book by the Rev. John Thompson, originally published 1892 (although this is a facsimile of the 1930 edition) contains 126 pages.

Long before the days of The Da Vinci Code, Rosslyn Castle and its famous Chapel were highlights of the "Grand Tour of Scotland", and the author here laments the hordes of people waiting to be herded through. Today, we are more mindful of the fragile nature of these treasures, and conservation work is under way. But, this has meant more restricted access than in times past. Here is a splendid introduction to Rosslyn Chapel and Castle, both for the armchair traveller and for someone planning a trip to Scotland.

Thompson gives a short history of the St. Clairs of Rosslyn before moving on to detailed descriptions of the Chapel, the Castle, Rosslyn Village, Rosslyn Glen and Hawthornden.

This CD consists of scans of the whole of the original book, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
