Issued once a week, this is a compilation of all of the issues of the South Australia Police Gazette that were issued during 1873. Each issue is usually four pages long, and contains information such as court lists, lists of warrants issued, appointments and changes in the Police Service, lists of arrests and discharges (which include descriptions), escaped prisoners, and missing persons, house-breakins, deserting wives and families, inquests, missing friends and more ... Notices from Police Gazettes from other states are also often included.

The Police Gazettes are an incredibly unique source of information, simply because they were designed to be distributed amongst the Police Force only, and the information contained often cannot be found anywhere else.

Prisoners Tried During the Month of March 1874 [these are a few extracted from a long list]
A'Court, John F., tried at Adelaide Police Court, for larceny; sent to the Industrial School for two years
Corrie, William alias Francis Hilton, tried at the Supreme Court, for burglary; sentenced to two years' hard labor
Dwyer, John, tried at the Supreme Court, for arson; discharged
Fesmire, Fred. C., tried at Moonta Police Court, for embezzling the moneys of the Moonta Institute; discharged
Horn, Charles, tried at the Supreme Court, for false pretences; sentenced to three years' hard labor
Kennedy, Ann, tried at the Supreme Court, for perjury; discharged
Laurence, John, tried at Port Adelaide Police Court, for embezzling ship's stores; sentenced to six weeks hard labor
McKenzie, William, tried at the Supreme Court, for a felonious assault on his wife; discharged - ordered to the Lunatic Asylum during Her Majesty's pleasure
O'Donnell, James, tried at the Supreme Court, for rape; sentenced to eight years' hard labor
