Digests or summaries of court cases were reported continuously in "The New South Wales Weekly Notes" from 1884 to 1970 - and subsequently under a
different title. Though a digest or summary, many cases are reported in considerable detail.
You will find any case here that may have come before the courts. Some examples are: bankruptcy, violence, murder, probate and claims under wills or cases of
intestacy, restraining injunctions, right of custody, divorce, criminal cases, assault, libel, a business or institution against an individual, and vice versa, and much more.
Any of our forebears could have been involved in many of these cases, either as a plaintiff or defendant - or simply as a witness or a person affected by the
outcome. Other family members may be mentioned, sometimes by date of birth, marriage and death and other events in a person's life. While some reports are quite brief, others run to several pages.
Anyone could be a party to any of these cases. A great deal of personal and genealogical information appears. Fill in some details of your families lives
with information you may not find anywhere else.
Issued weekly, each case then has the full description which can range from 1/2 a page to several pages long.
