In this history of the district of Tea Tree Gully, originally published in 1976, Ian Auhl has traced the occupation and settlement of the district and the growth of its seven early villages and townships: Houghton, Hope Valley, Highbury, Tea Tree Gully, Modbury, Golden Grove and Inglewood. He has also included the story of local government in the area since its beginnings in 1853 and has added a brief summary of the growth of the recently proclaimed City of Tea Tree Gully.
Two new chapters, researched and written by Robyn Taylor have been added to this third edition published in 1993 - one on Tea Tree Gully since 1976 and another on the new Golden Grove Development since 1970.
This also includes
- a collection of 87 supplement articles; 267 pages of additional information on the people, places and happenings in the Tea Tree Gully area in recent times. Included in these are newspaper articles, personal stories, biographies, photographs, births, deaths and marriage listings, details and descriptions of local businesses and events
- information on the Tea Tree Gully Historical Society
