'Polichronicon Seu Policratica Temporum' or 'The True Genealogy of the Frasers 916-1674', was more commonly known as the Wardlaw Manuscript. It was written by James Fraser in the late 17th century, and in its original form was twice the length of this sizeable edition. Many of the works used by Fraser in compiling this history of the Frasers long have been lost and exist only in this work, where they were extracted.

He takes as the core of his work the continuing history of this great Scottish family, detailing its involvement in national affairs with increasing detail as he moves into the centuries where records and family chronicles were more common and reliable. Naturally he is particularly thorough in the 16th and 17th centuries, when facts are more available and certain. The whole book is an amazing tribute to the importance of the Frasers.

This book written by James Fraser and edited by William Mackay, totals over 600 pages, and was originally published in 1905. Now available on CD-ROM as a facsimilie of the original, pages can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required, but please note: it is not searchable.
