Originally published 1759, the full title of this publication is 'A Short View of the Families of the Scottish Nobility: Their Titles, Marriages, Issue, Descents, the Posts of Honour and Profit They Hold in the Government, Their Arms, Mottoes, and Chief Seats'.
It is one of the earliest efforts to provide a genealogical and historical account of the peers, or nobility of Scotland, with emphasis particularly upon those of the 17th and 18th centuries. The value of this work is in the information provided on ALL the children, their marriages, and offspring, rather than just on the principal heirs line. Naturally, given the date on this publication, care must be taken (as with any such early reference work), but it is an excellent starting point for many major lines.
This CD consists of scans of the original books and/or articles, which can be browsed, enlarged and printed if required. Please note: it is not searchable.
