This almanac and gazetteer is full of information for the family historian, social historian and general researcher of Queensland in this era. The publishers claimed that "this Almanac and Gazetteer [was] the most concise, useful, and cheapest work ever offered to the Queensland public".

The Almanac contains information on everything – events scheduled throughout the year, a calendar, eclipses, evening and morning stars, Crown lands, agriculture, irrigation, mining, the pastoral industry, immigration, the coast lights, sailing directions and Queensland docks, slips and wharfage accommodation.

The Gazetteer includes a list of post towns, telegraph stations, money order offices, and railway stations in Queensland, together with cookery and medical hints. It also gives details of the following groups as well as names and contacts for them:

  • military, marine & naval defence forces
  • medical - including the Medical Board, Public Health Department, Pharmacy Board, Dental Board, Insanity, Reception Houses for the Insane, Lock Hospitals, Bacteriological Institute, and Quarantine
